Belinda Tato is an architect, landscape and urban designer. She is the co-founder and co-director of Ecosistema Urbano, a design and consulting company operating within the fields of urbanism, architecture, engineering and sociology, with offices in Madrid and Miami. Ecosistema Urbano defines their approach as urban social design: the design of urban spaces with a social agenda to empower local communities. This philosophy aims to involve the citizens in the creative and transformative processes of designing their own urban environments. The projects of Ecosistema Urbano aim to create spaces that are tailored to the local climatic conditions, enabling social interaction in public spaces all year round while remaining both comfortable and resource-efficient.
In parallel with her work at Ecosistema Urbano, Belinda has lectured and led workshops at the most prestigious educational institutions worldwide. Since 2010 she has been faculty at Harvard University Graduate School of Design in Cambridge where she is an Associate Professor in Practice of Landscape Architecture.
